A large bulk of time in the front end of post-production on the Amazing Spiderman was spent creating a digital 6th Avenue New York, New York that Spiderman would swing through during the final climax.
I probably texture painted about 7-8 of the “hero” buildings, which were the ones featured directly on the street of 6th Avenue. In addition, was assigned to paint lobby interiors and surface the helicopters featured in this video. For such a fleeting sequence of shots, it was a tremendous amount of work which needed to be completed quickly.
In the end, the results look kind of beautiful. Imageworks did a fantastic job of breaking down the vfx process in an understandable fashion. I’ll point aunt Betty to this video the next time she asks if I’m an animator and why I don’t work for Pixar.
